Welcome back to school everyone! I hope everyone had a relaxing spring break and is now ready to take on the daunting tasks of responsibilities like school, work and other extracurricular activities to step into adulthood. Let those spring break thoughts of sunshine and sandy shores fade away because those days are over… well, at least for another two months, but who's counting? You are. And with only a short amount of time left before finals and graduation, now is the time to buckle down and get it done. Let's face it, no one wants to retake that one class or classes over summer.
If you're anything like me, you’re a professional procrastinator. Seriously, if only I got paid to procrastinate ALL THE TIME, I'd be a billionaire. Ten page paper due next week? No problem, but first let me binge watch all my favorite TV shows, reorganize my room and maybe even go to that dreaded place we call the gym. I’m sure everyone can relate to doing all or at least one of these more enjoyable activities more than homework.
Anyways, my point is, with a busy schedule, it's easy to push homework to the back burner. And if you think school is overwhelming, wait until you're working in the PR industry for real! Since you will be receiving constant emails, phone calls, meetings and projects, it's essential that you prioritize your time and making sure not to forget about your own personal well-being.
Here are a few tips to help you out. Heaven knows ya need them, am I right?
- Use a planner to see all your coursework, events and other special projects to plan ahead for yourself and keep track of friends/family birthdays, holidays or other life events.
- Prioritize your self and work.
- Try having a scheduled routine to manage your time wisely.
- Create a checklist of tasks, chores or things to do.
- Remember to take a break and relax
- And from my personal experience…YOGA helps to relax and stay calm!
By actively trying to use these tips, it will help you to see all your responsibilities neatly organized into a small notebook that you can always carry around so more stuff can be checked off or added to the list. It is easier to find a method that works best for your needs so you can successfully accomplish each task.
